Materials and Their Makers Weekly Update

This past weekend, our group reserved rooms on campus from 10 – 5 on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and spent time working on our website together and getting it into a form that we are satisfied with. While we still have some text edits to do, we have finally reached the point where all of the goals we had set out for from a design and user interface point of view have been actualized: we have the right plug-ins installed for our floor plan and color bar to function as a navigational toolbar with links, and we have also been able to annotate images with the same plugin, which has made it easy to point out details on our objects.

The weekend session was incredibly productive, and we all found that we got much more done working face to face. Our wonderful TA, Caroline, spent Saturday with us in the Studio @ Butler, and helped us with translating Encyclopedie plates. She also recorded pronunciation guides for some of the French words involved in our project, which we put on each page.

Right now, we have run into a new issue where we can no longer upload files to wordpress, and we are waiting for that to be fixed so that we can finish uploading some pictures, but we feel that we have nearly accomplished what we initially set out to do with the Materials and their Makers project, and anything we are able to add between now and handing it is just a bonus. As you can see in the screenshots below, we have achieved a cohesive style which is echoed throughout our website, and are beginning to get our final copy and pictures finalized.
