Course Plan

1. My project reminds viewers of the working people behind the creation of the beautiful objects and materials used in 18th century France, particularly the clothing makers. There are many parts to clothing design, including the main body (which can be made from several materials), the lace, decorations, feathers, buttons, etc.

2. I intend to allow the viewer to click on different parts of an outfit and see images from both the Encylcopédie and modern museums of how each piece was made. I will also give a brief summary of various workers’ roles in making the pieces.

3. I will use HTML and CSS code to make different parts of the image clickable, and will help other group members in constructing a digital model of a figure with clickable clothing. Ideally, I will be able to do this for servants, homeowners, guests, and workers.

I also had a fun idea—if we get the 3D scanning cameras that we saw in class, we could do our own hair and makeup in the period style, scan ourselves, digitally change our clothing, and then put ourselves into the room as the figures!
